| This bench was my favorite one in the series of twig and copper pieces. I created several other benches of different sizes and some companion tables. The material is Eastern Red Cedar and woven strips of copper for seat and backs. The cedar was fallen timber and gathered from local the wooded areas. This cedar is very rot resistant due to the heart wood’s highly acidic nature which inhibits bacterial growth. It is the same aromatic wood used in cedar chests. The benches weather beautifully to a silvery gray and are sometimes mistaken for driftwood. |
